Brodie Kostecki's New Ride: Unveiling the Ex-BRT Chassis (2026)

Get ready for some thrilling racing action as Brodie Kostecki takes on a new challenge with an exciting twist!

The Shell V-Power team is gearing up for the upcoming Supercars season, and they've got a secret weapon: an unraced chassis with a fascinating backstory.

This machine, now known as DJRS-09-MR, was originally crafted by the talented Jimmy White, the fabricator behind Erebus Motorsport. It was destined for the Blanchard Racing Team (BRT), but fate had other plans.

BRT, now aligned with the mighty Triple Eight for 2026, had to let go of this chassis, and it found a new home with DJR late last year. A true gem, this chassis was a lucky find for DJR, especially after Erebus's decision to stop supplying customer teams mid-season.

DJR listened to Kostecki's request and switched to White-built chassis, a move that could prove pivotal in their 2025 campaign. Kostecki raced the DJRS-07-MR from the Sydney opener to the Gold Coast, but a heavy crash at the latter put an end to his championship hopes.

With the damaged car sent for repairs, Kostecki finished the season in DJRS-08-MR, previously driven by Will Davison.

And now, the big news: Kostecki, who finished an impressive ninth in last year's championship with wins at Townsville, The Bend, and Adelaide, has been handed the iconic #17 plate for this season. A true honor, this number was once synonymous with Johnson's legendary team.

His new teammate, Rylan Gray, will inherit the #38 plate and will also get his hands on the DJRS-08-MR for a rookie test day at Queensland Raceway on February 9.

But here's where it gets interesting: Triple Eight, now in charge of Ford homologation team duties, will also be at the track, testing their new Mustangs. And Supercars has more surprises in store with a Supra and a Camaro set to join the party for parity evaluations, which will also take place at the thrilling Bathurst 12 Hour.

And this is the part most people miss: the Mustang aero package for 2026 has undergone some subtle yet crucial changes. A new leading edge side skirt packer, a lower decklid height, and an increased rear wing angle could be the key to unlocking the Mustang's full potential.

So, what do you think? Will these changes make a difference? And how will Kostecki fare with his new chassis and iconic plate? The racing world is buzzing with anticipation, and we can't wait to see the action unfold.
